A special thank you to Amazon Robotics for their continued support of MassRobotics and the mission to support and grow the robotics ecosystem here in the Commonwealth.
Amazon Robotics was one of our earliest supporters and a founding partner. They believed in the MassRobotics plans for the future before we had even found a location to host the local startups. They understood that there were many obstacles to starting a robotics company, and that MassRobotics would be a great resource for startups to gather, find the resources they need, and be in a place with like-minded people to collaborate with and learn from. As a founding partner, they provided us early capital, which we needed to get started, and made a donation of a collaborative robot arm (UR10 – Universal Robots) for our residents to develop with. They have continued to support us for the past 2 years as an annual partner.
This past summer they sponsored our first week-long drone camp, July 8-12, open to Boston Public Schools (BPS) rising juniors and seniors. The program was taught in modules where students were introduced to basic robotics – building, safety, a little programming, and flying – AND, the students were able to take home the drone that they built. Included in the camp was a field trip to MassRobotics to see robotics startup companies and entrepreneurs in action. They also visited GreenSightAG, an industrial drone company. More information on the drone camp here. The funding provided by Amazon Robotics also covers another camp that we will host over the next February school vacation week.
Most recently, Amazon Robotics donated FOUR additional UR10s to add to our collection. Almost a third of our start-ups work in the area of factory automation and these will be a terrific resource as they work on collaborative robotics tools and solutions.
Thank you again to Amazon Robotics, for your continued support for our mission, community, and helping us inspire our local youth!
